Participate in our Lend a Tree program! Every spring and summer we raise hundreds of orphaned baby squirrels. While in care each group is provided with a wooden den box to give them a place to hide. Once these squirrels are old enough to go out on their own, we release them with their den box to provide them with a familiar safe place to retreat to while they are adjusting to their new surroundings.

We are looking for people in the Greater Toronto Area who would be willing to have a group of squirrels released, along with their den box, on their property. We need properties with at least one mature tree in the backyard to affix the den box to (with 3 screws). Squirrel groups are released onto a property within a predetermined distance from their original location as defined by the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.

If you’re interested in helping these squirrels get the best possible start at a life in the wild, please contact [email protected] with your name, phone number and address.

Squirrel with den box

Releasing a squirrel with their den box gives them a safe and familiar home base while they adjust to life in the wild.
