Orphaned killdeer in care

By July 25, 2014April 30th, 2015Wildlife Rehabilitation

Killdeers can walk as soon as they hatch, but still need care and protection from their parents. When this little killdeer arrived at the centre he was roughly the size of a golf ball and far too young to be on his own. Happily, he has a healthy appetite and has tripled in size since he arrived at TWC two weeks ago. Medical staff are thrilled with his progress and he will soon be old enough for release!

With thanks to the Toronto Field Naturalists for supporting the care of sick, injured and orphaned wild animals.
