Are you sure it’s a baby rabbit?
The wild rabbits most commonly seen in southern Ontario are called “Eastern Cottontails”.
Older baby cottontails are easy to identify — they look like mini adult rabbits.
Newborn, naked baby rabbits can be distinguished from other babies by their dark skin and long ears. Often, they have a white dot on their forehead.

If the baby rabbit you’ve found is black, white, or any colour other than a peppered brown, it might be a pet bunny. Check our page on how to help domestic animals, or call a wildlife rehabilitator for advice.
