Toronto Wildlife Centre (TWC) offers many unique programs and services to wildlife and the community. Our programs help wildlife in need, educate the community on wildlife-related issues, and promote peaceful co-existence with our wild neighbours. Since opening in 1993, TWC has helped hundreds of thousands of people, and admitted over 60,000 sick, injured and orphaned wild animals for care.
TWC helps people and wildlife in the following ways:
Wildlife Education & Outreach – TWC provides unique educational resources for tens of thousands of members of the public annually via the TWC Wildlife Hotline, literature, online presence, the media, and presentations.
Wildlife Rescue / Oil Spill Response – TWC’s highly skilled team are out in the community performing difficult life-saving rescues 365 days a year. This program is made possible by Lead Sponsor Jamieson Laboratories. TWC is the only wildlife centre in Ontario providing emergency response and treatment to wild animals affected by oil spills.
Wildlife Hospital – Led by one of the most experienced wildlife veterinarians in Canada, TWC’s wildlife hospital provides specialized medical care to over 270 species of wild animals.
Wildlife Rehabilitation – TWC’s knowledgeable staff and volunteers meet the needs of approximately 5,000 recovering wild patients and orphaned wildlife each year with the goal of release back into the wild.
Conservation – TWC works to ensure the well-being of wildlife and our shared environments.
Community Involvement – With an extensive network of volunteers and donors, TWC’s role in the community is supported by people of all backgrounds – there may be something you can do to help wildlife!
