…I found a baby bird attacked by a dog / my dog brought home a baby bird

Assess the condition of the baby to determine if it is showing any signs of illness or injury. If the bird is showing any signs of injury or illness, or if.the baby’s original location cannot be determined (i.e. the dog has been running a large area and it would be impossible to tell even approximately where the baby was found), it needs help.

If the baby appears uninjured, and the bird’s original location is known (e.g., the dog could only have retrieved the bird from a distinct small area such as a backyard), determine first whether the baby is a nestling or a fledgling.

The bird is a nestling.
The bird is a fledgling.
