We are giving this donation
as a way of saying thank you for helping animals that otherwise
would go unaided. We have rescued a few animals that we have
subsequently given to the Toronto Wildlife Centre and we
appreciate all your dedication to the animals.

I'm calling back just to
let you know that we put our little sparrow fledgling outside,
and there are adults feeding him and you gave us great advice.
Thank you so much for your service.

Every sparrow that falls between Hamilton and Peterborough, Barrie and Lake Ontario now has a potential saviour near at hand: one of three highly trained hot-line operators who triage the 30,000 calls about injured and orphaned wild animals that pour into the centre every year...So the Toronto Wildlife Centre thrives...an amazing grassroots phenomenon.

Just wanted to let you know that I followed your advice and put the margarine tub (aka makeshift nest) into the tree. I was just about to leave and heard some peeps coming from the shrub where I found the baby. To my surprise there were 4 more babies. I put them all in the nest to snuggle up to each other. As we were standing there...we saw the mother and father birds return to the nest!! I want to thank you for letting me know what to do! I am so happy that I could help the five little babies and their parents!

I would like to thank you so much for the most amazing experience of my life...I have the utmost respect for the work you do from the hotline and office staff, to the rescue and animal care staff and the countless volunteers you organize. I could not have asked for a better co-op placement and am so grateful that I got the chance to be part of something at TWC.

Someone gave me advice on how to get squirrels out of my tree hollow with kitty litter, light, radio. It worked so fast - they moved within one day and built a nest in a nearby cedar tree. I did the paper test and closed the hole. It worked out perfectly. I feel so much better. It was v. natural. Thank you so much, Shauna

Giving you an update on the raccoon problem here…the 4 babies were indeed rescued by their mother last night, although she kept repeatedly trying to get into the chimney after she had found them. After she couldn't, she took the babies to an alternate den, like you were saying, Shauna - if you want any more details about this happy story call us back - it was just like you said, and none of the babies were left behind - thank you for your help!

I called earlier this evening with a raccoon situation, and spoke to a wonderful lady...thank you for your patient, non judgmental help for us folk who know little about wildlife in the city, learning as we go. Thanks so much
